Is It Worth Your Money?

For anyone looking for an innovative crossbow that really packs a punch, the Ghost is definitely worth your money. This bow delivers tons of speed and power at a manageable price.

If you’re looking to step up to a higher performing crossbow, you’ll want to add the Ghost to your list.

A Closer Look at the Barnett Ghost 420

The Barnett Ghost 420 is one of the best crossbows money can buy. Period.

It’s fast and powerful. Plus, it makes use of an innovative design that looks just about as good as it performs.

The Ghost 420 currently tops Barnett’s lineup and is one of the most innovative crossbows available today. With carbon fiber limbs and a machined aluminum arrow track, the Ghost is both light and maneuverable at just over seven pounds.

Features

One of the Ghost’s most impressive features is its speed. With the ability to fire arrows at up to 420 feet per second, it’s one of the fastest shooting crossbows on the market.

On top of that, the Ghost is also quite powerful. A draw weight of 185 pounds helps this bow put out over 150 pound feet of kinetic energy.

The Ghost isn’t just a power and speed machine though. Its innovative design takes advantage of lightweight carbon limbs and other parts. To top it all off, the Ghost makes use of an illuminated 1.5-5x32 scope.

The Ghost also comes equipped with a frictionless release that uses a free-floating roller assembly, giving it a very light 3 pound trigger.

Specs

  • Fast, 420 feet per second arrow speeds
  • 185 pound draw weight
  • 153 foot pounds of kinetic energy
  • Overall weight of 7.6 pounds
  • Ships with a 1.5-5x32mm illuminated scope
  • Mossy Oak camo pattern covers the bow

Ease of Use & Reliability

Although the Ghost is a very modern, innovative crossbow, that doesn’t mean it’s not easy to use and reliable.

The Ghost’s design actually incorporates a step through, carbon riser. This simplifies the design and eliminates the addition of another part—the cocking stirrup. Not only does this make the bow easier to use, it improves long term reliability by eliminating parts.

With the Ghost, you’ll also get a rope cocking device and the ability to use a crank. The only catch is that the Ghost doesn’t come with a crank. You’ll have to pick one up on your own if you plan to use a crank.

As always, Barnett crossbows come with a great five year warranty and the assurance of buying from a trusted brand.

Who Is This For?

The Barnett Ghost is an excellent choice for anyone looking for top of the line performance at a fairly reasonable price.

With plenty of speed and power, the Ghost is more than capable of taking just about any game animal in North America. It’s innovative design matches, if not exceeds many of the other innovators on the market.

Anyone in the market for a performance oriented crossbow should seriously consider the Barnett Ghost 420.

Our Opinion

The Ghost is a great buy.

It is easily one of the fastest, most powerful, and innovative crossbows on the market. On top of that, it’s reasonably priced for such an impressive bow. If you want a premium bow that performs well and takes advantage of the latest technology, it’s hard to go wrong with the Ghost.

This bow isn’t perfect, but it does give crossbow shooters a lot of bang for their buck in a great looking package.

Other Options Worth Looking At

The Ghost is a tremendous crossbow that comes in at a great price. But, it’s not without its faults.

Anyone looking for a premium, high-performance crossbow should seriously consider the R10 or R20 from Ravin. Both of these bows deliver class leading performance with arrows speeds of over 400 feet per second and kinetic energy well north of 100 foot pounds.

Ravin’s crossbows are also some of the narrowest on the market. This gives them a compact, rifle-like feel that’s hard to match.

But Ravin’s crossbows aren’t cheap. At well over $1000, they’re definitely not for everyone.

For those looking to spend a little less, Barnett’s own Vicious is a reverse draw crossbow with a compact, balanced frame. Though not as powerful as the Ghost, this bow will save buyers a few dollars while still delivering arrow speeds of 340 feet per second.

If you want a solid performer with innovative features and plenty of power, the Barnett Ghost 420 is the way to go. Shooters get a complete package that's effective against any North American game for a price that should be manageable for serious crossbow shooters.
