1. Mossberg MMR Pro 224 Valkyrie Semi Auto Rifle - Overall Best 224 Valkyrie Rifle

  • Model: Mossberg MMR Pro 224 Valkyrie Semi Auto Rifle
  • Barrel length: 18 inches
  • Barrel material: Stainless steel
  • Trigger: JM Pro Match adjustable
  • Muzzle device: SilencerCo ASR muzzle brake

The Mossberg MMR Pro 224 Valkyrie Semi Auto Rifle is on the lower end of the price spectrum for .224 Valkyrie rifles. But it’s on the upper end of the performance spectrum.

It’s fitted with an 18-inch, free floated barrel with a rifle length gas system.

This gives you plenty of muzzle velocity and precision for long range shooting. The barrel length is perfectly suitable for both competition and hunting.

The rifle length gas system makes the recoil impulse less snappy. This rifle is also fitted with a muzzle brake that further reduces the recoil impulseAll this adds up to make it super easy to get hits when you fire multiple shots.

Additionally, the barrel is constructed from stainless steel for maximum precision. Stainless steel also wears very evenly throughout its lifespan. That way the precision and point of impact stays the same throughout the life of your barrel.

At the other end, this rifle is fitted with a JM Pro-Match trigger, which is a super crisp adjustable trigger. The pull weight is set at 4 pounds from the factory. But you can set the pull weight even lower, if you need.

The trigger is perfect for competition shooting. But it’s a super nice trigger that you could easily use for hunting, too.

Lasly, the handguard is slim, easy to grip, and offers a ton of M-LOK slots for attaching any and all the accessories you want.

Overall, if you need a single .224 Valkyrie that you could use for all types of shooting, this rifle will do what you need. And it will do what you need for a really reasonable price.

  • Model: Radical Firearms AR-15 MHR .224 Valkyrie Semi-Automatic Rifle
  • Barrel length: 18 inches
  • Barrel material: Stainless steel
  • Trigger: Mil-spec
  • Muzzle device: Pepper pot brake

Some shooters bag on Radical Firearms because they’re a budget firearms maker. But I’ve seen a lot of Radical Firearms rifles run just fine through a lot of abuse. That’s why the Radical Firearms AR-15 MHR .224 Valkyrie Semi-Automatic Rifle is a great option if you need a really affordable .224 Valkyrie rifle.

The barrel is an 18 inch stainless steel barrel, with a closed can muzzle brake.

The muzzle brake isn’t super aggressive. It works. But a good 2 or 3-port muzzle brake would be more effective.

However, the muzzle brake does reduce the felt recoil. But you could get more recoil reduction with a muzzle device upgrade.

On the other end of the rifle, the furniture is all Mission First Tactical equipmentThe furniture is both comfortable and lightweight.

The best part is the vertical pistol grip angleIt helps you keep your elbow down, with your wrist in a natural position, with your finger evenly aligned with the trigger.

My main complaint about this rifle is that almost all the other hardware is mil-spec equipment. The trigger and charging handle are both mil-spec fare.

It’s not a deal breaker. But, if you’re a trigger snob or a left-hander, the mil-spec stuff is just okay.

Also, the safety is ambidextrous, which is a nice touch. But it’s a full-size90-degree safety, which can rub against your firing hand when your safety is off. I prefer an ambidextrous safety with a short lever on the weak hand side.

But the gripes about this rifle are pretty small.

Overall, this Radical Firearms model is a super affordable rifle that performs very well, even compared to some more expensive rifles. Your dollar goes very far when you purchase this rifle.

3. Alex Pro Firearms 224 Valkyrie DMR 18” - Value 224 Valkyrie Rifle

  • Model: Alex Pro Firearms 224 Valkyrie DMR 18”
  • Barrel length: 18 inches
  • Barrel material: Stainless steel
  • Trigger: CMC Triggers 3.5 pound trigger
  • Muzzle device: 2-port muzzle brake

Alex Pro rifles don’t seem to be super popular. But the Alex Pro Firearms 224 Valkyrie DMR 18” has a really solid feature set for the money.

Here’s the stuff you want to know:

The barrel is an 18-inch stainless steel barrel with a pretty serious muzzle brake. The muzzle brake does a great job of reducing recoil. However, it also packs a pretty powerful muzzle blast. Bystanders beware.

Additionally, the trigger is a 3.5 pound trigger from CMC Triggers, which is pretty impressive. It’s the sort of trigger that you’d expect to find on a much more expensive rifle. Long story short: the trigger is super smooth, with a super clean break that’s light enough for any sort of precision shooting.

The only caveat with the trigger is that some shooters feel 3.5 pounds is a bit too light for a tactical rifle. If you’re one of those who prefers a heavier trigger for tactical rifles, this might have to be your DMR.

Lastly, there’s no mil-spec furniture on this rifle. The stock is a Magpul ACS carbine stockIt’s a comfortable stock that has quite a bit of storage for batteries and snacks. Also, the stock body is angled to give you a consistent cheek weld and sight picture.

I find the stock to be a bit bulky. But most shooters really like it.

Really, any complaints about this rifle come down to personal preference. And if you don’t like something, you can always upgrade it.

It might not be perfect for you out of the box. But this Alex Pro is an outstanding rifle. And the price is good enough that you’ll probably have enough money left in the budget to purchase a few upgrades, if you need them.

4. Savage MSR-15 Recon LRP Semi-Auto Rifle - Tunable 224 Valkyrie Rifle

  • Model: Savage MSR-15 Recon LRP Semi-Auto Rifle
  • Barrel length: 18 inches
  • Barrel material: Carbon steel
  • Trigger: Savage 2-stage MSR trigger
  • Muzzle device: 2-port tunable muzzle brake

I’m a big fan of Savage bolt action rifles. And I’ve been rather impressed with the Savage line of semi-automatic rifles. The Savage MSR-15 Recon LRP Semi-Auto Rifle is one of the Savage semi-automatic rifles. And it’s a really solid long range rifle.

There are a few key features that make this rifle so impressive:

The barrel is an 18-inch carbon steel barrel with a melonite QPQ finish. Savage carbon steel barrels are remarkably precise because the steel is very rigid. And it lasts a super long time because it’s very hard.

So you get a precise, long lasting barrel.

Additionally, the barrel is fitted with a tunable muzzle brake that offers solid recoil reduction. And the muzzle brake can be timed to drive the muzzle down at an angle that makes it much easier to get back on target for fast follow up shots.

Moving back, the gas block is tunable. You can set the gas system where you need it based on your ammunition. This gives you the most minimal recoil, without compromising reliability. The tunable gas block is also super nice if you’re going to run a suppressor, since you need less gas for that.

Lastly, the trigger is a 2-stage trigger. It’s a Savage trigger. So the movement is super smooth. And the break is impressively crisp. It’s really easy to press your trigger without moving your muzzle with this trigger.

There’s more. But I’m at the end of the review.

Suffice to say that this Savage rifle delivers outstanding precision and ergonomics to maximize your shooting potential for a really reasonable price.

5. Wilson Combat AR-15 Recon Tactical - Tactical Competition 224 Valkyrie Rifle

  • Model: Wilson Combat AR-15 Recon Tactical
  • Barrel length: 20 inches
  • Barrel material: Stainless steel
  • Trigger: Wilson Combat Tactical Trigger Unit
  • Muzzle device: QComp flash hider

Wilson Combat has a great reputation in the world of high performance firearms. It’s no surprise that the Wilson Combat AR-15 Recon Tactical is a great rifle for anyone who wants a .224 rifle for 3-gun or other tactical competition.

There’s a lot to love about this rifle. But two things that Wilson Combat nailed are the barrel and the trigger.

The barrel is a 20-inch stainless steel barrel, with a QComp flash hider that helps keep your muzzle flat and your line of sight clear during rapid fire.

At the other end, the trigger is a Wilson Combat Tactical Trigger Unit (TTU). It’s a 4 pound, single-stage trigger that’s perfect for tactical applications. The break is crisp and the lock time is short. The trigger makes it as easy as possible to take quick, precise shots.

There’s other good stuff—like the pistol grip and stock—but you can check those out on the product page.

Honestly, this is definitely not a budget rifle. But it’s an incredibly designed and well-built rifle that’s more than worth the price if you’re a serious competition shooter who needs the added range and power of a .224 Valkyrie rifle.

6. Wilson Combat AR-15 Super Sniper - Tactical Precision 224 Valkyrie Rifle

  • Model: Wilson Combat AR-15 Super Sniper
  • Barrel length: 20 inches
  • Barrel material: Stainless steel
  • Trigger: Wilson Combat Tactical Trigger Unit
  • Muzzle device: QComp flash hider

The Wilson Combat AR-15 Super Sniper is similar to the Wilson Combat Recon Tactical. However, this one only comes in a 20-inch model. Whereas the Recon Tactical comes in a few barrel lengths.

The key with this model is that it’s optimized for heavier bullets. That way you can maximize your range and long range ballistics by firing a heavier projectile.

You’ll get the velocity you need from the 20-inch barrel. And you’ll get the most precise shots possible with the Wilson Combat TTU.

The trigger unit has a beautifully smooth press and crisp, 4 pound breakIt’s an amazing precision shooting trigger.

This rifle will work for tactical shooting, even though it’s a bit long. However, it’s optimized for long range shooting and will function best as a DMR or hunting rifle.

This isn’t a budget rifle, by any stretch of the imagination. But, if you need an amazing long range rifle, this rifle will help you get hits when you need them.

7. Nemo Arms Battle-Light Valkyrie .224 Valkyrie Rifle - Long Range Precision 224 Valkyrie Rifle

  • Model: Nemo Arms Battle-Light Valkyrie .224 Valkyrie Rifle
  • Barrel length: 20 inches
  • Barrel material: 416R stainless steel
  • Trigger: CMC Triggers 3.5 pound trigger
  • Muzzle device: 2-port muzzle brake

The Nemo Arms Battle-Light Valkyrie .224 Valkyrie Rifle literally has more features than I have room to cover here. I’ll try to cover the most important benefits, though.

First, the barrel is a 416R stainless steel barrel that’s cut with a 1 in 7 twist. The 1 in 7 twist is ideal for stabilizing heavy, long-range precision bullets. It’s not quite as good for shooting lighter bullets. But the barrel will send heavy bullets with the best stability.

Additionally, the barrel is fitted with a 2-port muzzle brake that reduces recoil quite a bit. This rifle is impressively comfortable to shoot.

But what about the trigger? The trigger is a CMC Triggers 3.5 pound flat face trigger. The trigger pull is super smooth with a remarkably crisp break. But the flat bow helps you get a consistent trigger press, regardless of where you place your finger on the trigger.

This gives you the best possible precision, shot after shot.

There’s more. This is a completely custom rifle. But that’s all the room I’ve got. Click through to the product page to see the rest.

If you need an incredible long range precision rifle, this Nemo Arms rifle has everything that even the most discerning shooters demand to maximize your shooting potential.

8. POF-USA Renegade Plus SPR .224 Valkyrie Semi-Automatic AR-15 Rifle - Long Range Competition 224 Valkyrie Rifle

  • Model: POF-USA Renegade Plus SPR .224 Valkyrie Semi-Automatic AR-15 Rifle
  • Barrel length: 20 inches
  • Barrel material: Stainless steel
  • Trigger: Single stage 3.5 pound trigger
  • Muzzle device: Triple port muzzle brake

The POF-USA Renegade Plus SPR .224 Valkyrie Semi-Automatic AR-15 Rifle is a great rifle on the outside. But most of the benefits are actually on the inside of this rifle. This rifle is engineered for ultimate reliability.

First, there are four tiny channels cut into the chamber, which enables the casing to be more easily. This produces a smoother action and reduces the chances that you’ll have a stuck case or some other failure to extract.

Then, the cam pin is fitted with a roller to reduce wear on your cam pin and the inside of your upper receiver. That way you have to replace parts less often. And you’re less likely to experience a catastrophic failure.

Lastly, the bolt carrier is a one-piece bolt carrier with the gas key machined into the bolt carrier. This removes weak points from your bolt carrier group to ensure that you can run your gun hard with less risk of parts failure.

The performance and ergonomics are also great.

But, if you want a rifle that’s going to perform reliably and require less preventative maintenance, this POF USA model is the rifle for you.

Is it expensive? Yes. But will it pay for itself in money saved on replacement parts? Also, probably, yes.
