    • Length: 16 inches or 10.5 inches
    • Finish: Salt bath nitride
    • Profile: Faxon Big Bore Profile

Faxon Firearms barrels are some of my favorite barrel makers. They’re one of my go-to companies when I need a barrel. The Faxon Firearms 16 inch Gunner Big Bore Profile .458 SOCOM Barrel is good enough to be your go-to 458 SOCOM barrel.

First, this barrel is constructed from 4150 chromoly vanadium steel. It’s pretty much the most durable barrel steel.

The heat resistance is incredible. And 4150 steel barrels last for a ridiculously long time.

Also, this barrel is finished in black nitride, which also coats the bore. So your barrel lasts as long as the steel, not just the chrome lining.

The black nitride finish is also exceptionally corrosion resistant. And it looks awesome. The finish is also impressively smooth and gives you a very firm receiver fit for the best possible organic precision.

Lastly, the profile is Faxon’s big bore profile. It’s a hybrid profile that’s relatively lightweight, but also rigid enough to give you excellent precision all the way out to the maximum effective range of the 458 SOCOM bullet.

If you’re in the market for a shorter barrel, there’s also a 10.5 inch version of this barrel: Faxon Firearms 10.5 inch Gunner Big Bore Profile .458 SOCOM Barrel.

    • Model: TRYBE Defense .458 SOCOM 16-Inch AR-15 Threaded Barrel
    • Construction: 4150 chromoly vanadium
    • Length: 16 inches or 10.5 inches
    • Finish: Satin black nitride
    • Profile: HBAR

TRYBE Defense is a relatively new manufacturer. However, they’re stuff looks very good, so far. The TRYBE Defense .458 SOCOM 16-Inch AR-15 Threaded Barrel is an incredible value in a 458 SOCOM barrel.

First, this barrel is made of 4150 chromoly steel. It’s the most durable and long lasting steel you can get.

Additionally, this barrel is finished in black nitride, which treats all the surfaces on the barrel, including the bore. That way your barrel lasts as long as the 4150 steel, rather than relying on chrome lining.

The nitride finish is a satin matte finish. It looks really cool and produces a very secure receiver fit. However, it may give you a little more resistance than a polished finish when you install your barrel.

Lastly, the profile is an HBAR (heavy barrel) profile. It’s the most precise barrel profile. But, as the name suggests, the profile makes this barrel a bit heavy. This barrel certainly prioritizes precision over maneuverability.

If you need a lighter, more maneuverable barrel, you can get the 10.5 inch model: TRYBE Defense.

However, this TRYBE Defense barrel is incredibly affordable. And the performance matches the performance you’d get from some more expensive barrels.

The GLFA .458 SOCOM 10.5" Black Nitride Barrel offers an amazing blend of price, precision, and maneuverability for 458 SOCOM SBR builders.

This is a 4150 chromoly vanadium steel barrel. It’s tougher, more heat resistant, and longer lasting than any other barrel steel. And the black nitride finish protects the bore. That way your barrel doesn’t depend on chrome lining for its longevity.

The black nitride finish is matte and very tough. It looks great. And it gives you a very tight receiver fit. That way you get the best possible organic precision from your build.

However, the matte finish does make it a little more difficult to install your barrel, especially if you have a particularly tight fitting upper receiver.

Lastly, this barrel has a tapered heavy profile. It’s slightly lighter than a true HBAR barrel. But it’s almost just as precise as an HBAR barrel. Overall, this barrel is more than precise enough to get the performance you need from a 10.5 build.

This barrel runs on the less expensive end of the spectrum. But this barrel delivers the sort of performance you’d usually find in a more expensive barrel.

    • Model: New Frontier Armory 16" .458 SOCOM Black Nitride Barrel
    • Construction: 4150 chromoly vanadium
    • Length: 16 inches
    • Finish: Semi-matte black melonite
    • Profile: Bull

The New Frontier Armory 16" .458 SOCOM Black Nitride Barrel is one of the most precise 458 SOCOM barrels that you can get. But it’s far from being the most expensive barrel out there.

This is a 4150 chromoly vanadium barrel. That’s usually a good thing. And it’s still a good thing here. But some precision shooters prefer stainless steel barrels for the precision and consistent performance throughout the life of the barrel.

However, this barrel still delivers more than enough precision for shooting 458 SOCOM as far as it will go. And the lifespan is ridiculously long.

And this barrel is finished in black melonite, which protects the bore. That way this barrel lasts as long as the steel lasts, not just as long as the chrome lining holds up.

Lastly, the black melonite finish is semi-matte. It produces a really tight receiver fitThis gives you the best organic precision possible.

It can be tough to get this barrel installed, especially with a tight fitting upper receiver. But the resulting precision is incredibly strong.

The price runs a bit on the expensive end of the spectrum. But this barrel is actually impressively well-priced when it comes to precision barrels. So the value is excellent.
