Pinning down the best 9mm triggers is a bit tricky. Here’s why:
9mm is by far the most common handgun caliber in the world. Therefore, 9mm handguns are the most common handguns in the world. Unfortunately, there is no one-size-fits-all trigger for every 9mm handgun.
But there are a few companies that manufacture triggers for multiple handgun models. So we’ve rounded up the best 9mm triggers that have fairly broad compatibility. That way (hopefully) you’ll find a 9mm trigger here that works in your gun.
We’ll link to the trigger for the most popular model. But most of the triggers are available for multiple handgun models.
SPOILER—the overall best 9mm trigger is the Apex Tactical Specialties Flat-Faced Forward Set Trigger Kit. It upgrades every stage of your trigger press.
And Apex Tactical Specialties makes triggers for many of the most common handguns. So it’s most likely that you’ll be able to drop this trigger into your gun and get a much better trigger press.
If you’re looking for something that’s simpler to install, or something with a different feel, keep reading. We’ve found the best 9mm triggers, with the broadest compatibility, for you to try out.

1. Apex Tactical Specialties Flat-Faced Forward Set Trigger Kit - Overall Best 9mm Trigger
The Apex Tactical Specialties Flat-Faced Forward Set Trigger Kit is the best overall trigger for a couple reasons:
- Apex makes this trigger kit for a whole bunch of handguns.
- This trigger gives you a great trigger press.
First, this is a complete trigger upgrade. It overhauls your entire trigger press.
The kit includes upgraded springs and improved trigger components to smooth out your trigger movement and improve the break.
But, in most guns, this trigger also shortens the travel and reduces the overtravel. That way you can break a shot without moving the trigger so much. And that means more precision and better accuracy.
Additionally, this trigger comes with a flat faced trigger shoe. The flat faced trigger helps you press your trigger consistently, even if your trigger finger placement is off. This helps you get the same precision shot after shot, for more accurate hits.
Lastly, this trigger kit reduces your trigger pull weight by about 2 pounds, in most guns. This makes your trigger pull light enough to enhance your precision. But your trigger press will still be heavy enough that it’s not a safety issue in carry or duty guns.
Ultimately, this trigger gives you an excellent trigger press that’s smooth and crisp enough for high precision shooting, but retains the safety you need for a carry or duty gun.
The only downside is that installing this trigger takes a bit of work and tuning, because it replaces so many parts in your gun. You may want to just hand your gun off to a gunsmith for the install.
But, once this trigger is in your gun, you’ll have a trigger press that’s competitive with even some of the very best stock triggers on the market.
2. HYVE Technologies Glock 42 Monarch Trigger System - Budget 9mm Trigger
The HYVE Technologies Glock 42 Monarch Trigger System is a simple and relatively affordable trigger upgrade that’s available for a handful of popular 9mm handguns.
This trigger is mostly just a trigger shoe. For some handguns it also comes with a trigger bar installed. But the trigger bar is usually a factory trigger bar.
But the trigger shoe is an aluminum trigger shoe that’s more angular than most stock triggers.
This isn’t a flat faced trigger. The trigger is curved. But the face is not rounded. It’s flat.
So this trigger gives you the benefits of a flat faced trigger—a more consistent and straight-to-the-rear trigger press—but the curved face helps you get more consistent trigger finger placement.
Additionally, the trigger shoe removes a bit of the travel and overtravel from your trigger press. That way it requires less trigger movement to break a shot, which translates to less muzzle movement and better accuracy.
And, in most handguns, this trigger makes the break cleaner. You’ll usually notice less mush or creep in your trigger press.
Lastly, this trigger is relatively simple to install, since it’s just a trigger shoe.
Unfortunately, this trigger doesn’t reduce the pull weight of your trigger. All the other components in your gun stay the same.
But your trigger press will probably FEEL lighter because you’ll have better leverage over your trigger.
It’s not a total upgrade for your trigger press. But this HYVE trigger offers a very affordable way to improve your trigger press without changing many components in your handgun.
3. Apex Tactical Specialties Flat Forward Set Trigger Kit for Sig P320 - Sig P320 9mm Trigger
The Sig P320 has become one of the most popular handguns on the market ever since the Department of Defense adopted the military model, the M17, as the official military sidearm.
Unfortunately, there aren’t a ton of aftermarket triggers for the Sig P320. But the Apex Tactical Specialties Flat Forward Set Trigger Kit for Sig P320 is easily the best aftermarket trigger for your Sig P320.
The cool thing about this trigger is that it’s just a trigger and a trigger bar… But it still reduces your trigger pull weight. Here’s how that works:
This is a flat faced trigger. The shape is very similar to the stock P320 trigger.
However, this trigger moves the neutral position of your trigger to the rear slightly. This enables you to place your trigger finger lower on the trigger, which gives you better leverage over your trigger.
That way your trigger press feels lighter, and even requires less effort to press, although all your trigger springs remain unchanged.
Additionally, this trigger reduces the travel and overtravel of your trigger. This means less trigger movement and therefore less muzzle movement as you press your trigger. And you know what that means: better accuracy.
Lastly, this trigger is quite easy to install because you only need to replace the trigger bar and trigger shoe (although an over-travel stop spring is included, it seems about the same as the stock trigger).
The only gripe from the field about this trigger is that it doesn’t reduce the trigger pull weight much. Technically, this trigger isn’t designed to reduce the pull weight. But, if you’re looking for pull weight reduction, this may not be the trigger for you.
But, if you just want a really great trigger press, and are relatively satisfied with the stock trigger pull weight, this is the trigger for your P320.
4. Powder River Precision Inc. XD/XDM Drop-In Trigger Kits - Springfield XD 9mm Triggers
There are relatively few aftermarket triggers for the Springfield XD line of handguns. That’s surprising, considering how popular Springfield XD pistols are.
So the field isn’t huge. But the Powder River Precision Inc. XD/XDM Drop-In Trigger Kits are at the top of the field of Springfield XD triggers.
XD handguns have a notoriously long, heavy trigger press.
This trigger addresses both of those shortcomings.
The striker safety lever reduces the long pretravel. In fact, the pretravel is nearly eliminated with this trigger. There’s just a touch of pretravel in this trigger. But it’s very little.
Additionally, this trigger includes reduced power springs. The spring kit reduces your trigger press to between 3.5 and 4.5 pounds. The trigger pull weight is much more manageable than the factory pull weight. But it’s heavy enough that it’s not a safety issue for tactical or defensive guns.
Then, there’s an integral over travel stop that reduces stress on your trigger bar and enhances your trigger’s lifespan.
Installing this trigger is deceptively tricky. It seems simple. But you may want to have a gunsmith install this trigger.
Once this Powder River trigger is installed, though, your trigger press will be much better than the factory Springfield XD trigger, which is actually a bit lackluster.
5. Overwatch Precision TAC Trigger - Glock 9mm Trigger
I think that Overwatch Precision makes the best Glock triggers on the market right now, when you consider everything, including ease of installation and price. The Overwatch Precision TAC Trigger is simply the most trigger upgrade you can get for the least amount of effort and money.
One of the cool things about this trigger is that it’s just a trigger shoe and a trigger bar. It takes like 5 minutes to install.
For 5 minutes of effort, you get a trigger press with less pretravel, less overtravel, and a cleaner break.
But the main improvement is the break. This trigger removes much of the mush and creep that you get from the factory Glock trigger and gives you a much cleaner and more predictable break. It’s a very noticeable improvement to your trigger press.
Additionally, the trigger shoe is a flat-faced trigger shoe. This enables you to press your trigger straight to the rear for a more consistent trigger press.
Also, there’s an indexing tab at the bottom of the trigger to help you place your trigger finger consistently. Overall, the flat faced trigger promotes a smoother, more consistent trigger press.
Lastly, this Overwatch Precision trigger is super easy to install. Like I said, it takes like 5 minutes.
And you get a really nice trigger press. To get a better trigger press than this one, you’d have to spend notably more money and time. This is definitely the best trigger for the money and effort that you can get for your Glock.
Also, this trigger is available for the Smith & Wesson M&P and several other handgun models.
Most modern 9mm handguns have pretty decent trigger presses. Manufacturers have figured out that most shooters prefer nicer triggers. So manufacturers have improved their trigger designs and manufacturing processes.
But, there’s still room for improvement in most 9mm triggers.
So, if you want a great trigger that fits a lot of handguns, get the Apex Tactical Specialties Flat-Faced Forward Set Trigger Kit. It’s a great trigger that improves every aspect of your trigger press and reduces the pull weight by a couple pounds. It’s a solid trigger upgrade for many popular handguns.
Still pressing that factory trigger? It’s time to upgrade. Get a better trigger. And get better accuracy.
