1. Evolution Gun Works Marlin Picatinny Rail Scope Mount - Overall Best Marlin 336 Accessory
One of the biggest headaches about older firearms is that they often lack compatibility with modern optics and other hardware. The Marlin 336 suffers from this same issue. But the Evolution Gun Works Marlin Picatinny Rail Scope Mount solves that problem.
This Marlin 336 scope mount gives you 12 picatinny rail slots along the top of your receiver.
Now, the 336 already has drilled and tapped holes in the receiver for scope rings. But using a picatinny mount is much faster and easier. And it gives you better compatibility with red dots, holographic sights, and QD scope rings.
Overall, this rail just makes your rifle more compatible with a broader range of optics.
And it’s machined from 6061-T6 aluminum, with a skeletonized rail. That way you won’t even notice the weight from the additional hardware.
Ultimately, this scope rail is the best upgrade for the money. There’s just nothing else that adds as much shootability as a good optics mounting system.
2. Uncle Mike’s Quick Detach Sling Swivel - Budget Marlin 336 Accessory
The Marlin 336 comes with classic sling studs. But sling studs aren’t ideal if you use one sling for multiple rifles. And it’s just nice to be able to remove your sling quickly, if need be.
The Uncle Mike’s Quick Detach Sling Swivel is an inexpensive accessory that will probably get more use than you notice.
There’s not much to say about sling swivels. I’ll keep this quick.
This sling swivel attaches to the stock sling stud on your rifle. And it makes removing and attaching your sling super quick and easy.
It’s nothing flashy. But I find that quick detach sling swivels are something that I take for granted these days. It’s likely that you’ll find you use this Uncle Mike's accessory without even thinking about it. And that means it’s saving you a ton of headache.
3. Ironsighter Marlin 336 Aluminum Alloy See-Thru Scope Mount - Value Marlin 336 Accessory
The Marlin 336 is a bit of a hybrid rifle. It’s capable enough that it makes sense to mount a scope on it. But it’s also a lever-action rifle that works well for quick, short-range shooting. The Ironsighter Marlin 336 Aluminum Alloy See-Thru Scope Mount offers a good compromise between glass and iron.
These are standard scope rings that have huge sight channels for your iron sights.
The large sight channels are nice because they offer a less obstructed sight picture when you’re using your iron sights. And they enable you to use any iron sights you want without interference from your scope rings.
These scope rings mount directly to your receiver, which is good and bad.
The direct mount is good because it’s super secure and (usually) a direct receiver mount gives you a level platform, which makes it easy to zero your scope.
On the other hand, the direct mount is not compatible with picatinny or Weaver rails. But, if you’ve added rail to your rifle, you have a lot of options for see-through scope rings.
Overall, these Ironsighter model are the best accessory if you want to mount a scope on your Marlin 336, with your iron sights as a secondary sighting system, but don’t have much need for a picatinny rail.
4. Grovtec Hammer Extension for Marlin 336 - Ergonomic Marlin 336 Accessory
The Grovtec Hammer Extension for Marlin 336 probably adds the most ease of use to your rifle for the least possible effort.
The point of this extension is deceptively simple: it makes it super easy to cock your rifle. So what’s the big deal with that?
Well, if you have a scope that extends over the tang of your hammer, it can be very difficult to cock your rifle. This extension gives you a lever for cocking your rifle without cramming your thumb against your scope.
Even if you don’t have a scope, this extension gives you additional leverage and makes cocking your rifle easier, overall.
And this extension is ambidextrous. So it’s useful for left and right-handed shooters.
For just a few dollars and a few minutes to install, this accessory can save you a lot of headache in the long run. Kind of like the quick detach sling swivel, you’ll probably end up using this Grovtec extension without even realizing it, which is a huge testament to how much convenience it adds.
5. D4 Guns Handcrafted Leather Lever Wrap for Lever Action Rifles and Shotguns - Marlin 336 Comfort Upgrade
Lever action guns can be very fast. But, if you crank off a few rounds, you may notice that your knuckles get a tad beat up from slapping the lever. The D4 Guns Handcrafted Leather Lever Wrap for Lever Action Rifles and Shotguns eliminates that knuckle bang.
This wrap goes around the outside of the lever on your rifle. That way, you’ve got some padding for your knuckles when you open the action.
Also, these leather wraps retain the classic look of your rifle. If you want a more tactical look, get your wrap in black.
The only downside with these wraps is that you have to do some stitching to put them on.
However, the sewing needles and waxed sinew thread are included in the package, along with instructions for making the stitches you need. Sewing these wraps is surprisingly easy.
These D4 Guns wraps add a lot more comfort to your rifle than you might expect. For the money, you can’t go wrong.
6. TOURBON Leather Buttstock Cheek Rest with Rifle Shell Holder - Marlin 336 Hunting Accessory
Most stocks—even aftermarket stocks—for the Marlin 336 have a traditional shape. It can be tough to find a stock with a raised comb. The TOURBON Leather Buttstock Cheek Rest with Rifle Shell Holder solves this problem. And it costs far less than replacing your stock.
This is a really simple upgrade that has a raised cheek pad that enables you to get a good cheek weld, without moving your eye out of the eyebox on your optic. That way you can acquire your reticle faster and get a more stable sight picture for more precise shots.
And the raised cheek rest is arguably more comfortable than the raised cheek piece on a stock. It’s a padded leather comb, which is cushier than a wood or composite comb. So it’s got a comfort edge over an aftermarket stock.
Additionally, this cheek rest has loops for holding 8 additional rounds. That way you have additional rounds on hand, which makes things faster if you run your lever action in competition. And having quick access to additional rounds can be a lifesaver when you’re hunting.
My only complaint about this Tourbon cheek rest is that it’s not quite as stable as the fixed comb on a stock would be. Don’t get me wrong, this cheek rest stays in place very well. But it can shift every so slightly, which makes it just a tad less consistent than the raised comb on a stock.
However, the movement is minimal. And the cheek pad is wide enough that it shouldn’t have a major effect on your head position. This is a huge upgrade to the shootability and comfort of your rifle that’s easily worth the modest price.
7. Midwest Industries, Inc. Marlin 1895 Handguard M-LOK - Tactical Marlin 336 Accessory
This is probably the least necessary accessory. But, if you want to add some tactical viability and flair to your rifle, the Midwest Industries, Inc. Marlin 1895 Handguard M-LOK will do the trick.
This handguard is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum. So it’s super rigid, but still lightweight. This handguard weighs just 6 ounces. It’s probably lighter than the stock wooden forend.
The aluminum construction is rigid enough to mount a bipod, if you wanted. And it’s more than rigid enough to mount a foregrip, if you want.
There are also a whole bunch of M-LOK slots. That way you can mount all sorts of accessories.
There’s also a traditional sling stud that’s compatible with any sling that fits your original stock. You probably won’t even have to replace your sling.
Lastly, this handguard looks rad. Even if you don’t need the M-LOK slots or the reduced weight, this handguard is a solid aesthetic upgrade.
This handguard might seem a bit pricey, in comparison to the other Marlin 336 accessories. But it’s actually very reasonably priced, as far as handguards go.
It’s probably not necessary. But if you want a lever action rifle that looks tactical and has tactical viability, you need this Midwest Industries handguard.
