1. Maglula LTD. Ruger 10/22 Magazine Speedloader and Unloader - Overall Best Ruger 10/22 Speed Loader
If you need a Ruger 10/22 speed loader, get the Maglula LTD. Ruger 10/22 Magazine Speedloader and Unloader. End of article.
Just kidding. But this is seriously the best Ruger 10/22 speed loader you can get, all things considered.
First, this speedloader works on any Ruger 10/22 style magazine. If you’ve got a .22LR rifle with a rotary magazine, this speedloader will probably work.
Additionally, this speedloader works on both the standard Ruger 10/22 magazines and high-capacity Ruger 10/22 magazines. That way you can save time filling any magazine that you use.
Then, this speedloader handles the .22 rounds delicately. It doesn’t dent or damage the casing. And it won’t deform or scrape the bullet, which is especially handy if you shoot cast lead bullets.
Lastly, this model is pretty small. It takes up very little space. And you won’t even notice it in your range bag until you need it.
Now, this speedloader is more complex to use than a speedloader for a different type of magazine. But it’s not rocket surgery. You’ll figure it out quickly.
This certainly isn’t the least expensive Ruger 10/22 speedloader. But it’s more than worth the price. This is hands down the most efficient Ruger 10/22 speedloader you can get.
2. ProMag Archangel Ruger 10/22 Magazine Loader - Budget Ruger 10/22 Speed Loader
The ProMag Archangel Ruger 10/22 Magazine Loader may not be the speediest speedloader. But it’s the clear winner when it comes to price.
Also, this speedloader is remarkably simple. It’s literally just a piece of polymer with a spring and a little bit of steel hardware.
On one hand, this is good. This speedloader will last for a ridiculously long time, because there’s just not many parts to wear out or break.
Additionally, it’s stupid simple to use.
On the downside, it doesn’t make filling magazines super fast. It just makes it super easy. This speedloader simply pushes the follower or previous round down for you. That way you can easily slide the round into the magazine.
However, with a little practice, you can develop a system for using this speedloader pretty quickly. And it ends up being faster than filling your magazines with your thumbs.
Lastly, this speedloader works on Ruger and aftermarket extended Ruger 10/22 magazines.
Unfortunately, this speedloader isn’t ideal for use with the standard 10-round rotary magazines. It COULD work. But the rotary magazines are so short that they kind of disappear into the body of the speedloader.
If you have extended magazines, though, this ProMag speedloader is the most affordable way to make it faster and easier to fill your Ruger 10/22 magazines.
3. Caldwell 22LR Rimfire Rotary Magazine Loader - Value Ruger 10/22 Speed Loader
The Caldwell 22LR Rimfire Rotary Magazine Loader is super fast and easy to use. It’s not quite perfect, though.
First, the good stuff.
This speedloader makes filling Ruger 10/22 magazines much faster and easier. Just dump rounds in the hopper and turn the crank to pump rounds into your magazines.
And it’s compatible with the standard Ruger 10/22 rotary magazines. Unfortunately, it’s not great for the extended magazines, because the longer magazines aren’t as stable in this loader.
Also, this speedloader is impressively affordable considering how well it works and how complex the internals must be.
But here’s the rub:
There are a few quirks to using this speedloader.
You have to load the first round by hand. Then it’s important to keep this speedloader at the proper angle (with the rounds pushing downward into the load chamber) while you crank rounds into the magazine.
Lastly, don’t crank TOO fast. You can easily outrun the mechanics of this speedloader and cause a jam (this is where many of the bad reviews come from).
It’s easy to clear a jam with a small screwdriver or nail. But it’s inconvenient and kind of defeats the purpose of a speedloader.
So this Caldwell model is super fast and easy to use as long as you use it the right way.
If you use it correctly, though, this is one of the fastest and easiest Ruger 10/22 speed loaders you can get. And it’s relatively affordable.
4. Champion Traps and Targets Ruger 10/22 Magazine Loader - Fast Ruger 10/22 Speed Loader
The Champion Traps and Targets Ruger 10/22 Magazine Loader may not be as fast in terms of operation as the Caldwell speed loader. But it’s still one of the fastest Ruger 10/22 speed loaders (if not the fastest) because of its overall performance.
First, the operation is simple and quite similar to the Caldwell loader. Just dump your rounds into the hopper and give the loader a few shakes to settle and align the rounds. Then pop your magazine into the loader and crank rounds.
Simple. Fast. Easy.
Additionally, this speedloader works well enough with extended magazines. The only caveat with extended magazines is that you have to be careful not to bump them and cause misalignment, which in turn causes a jam.
And jamming is where this speedloader edges out other similar designs.
Yes, you CAN turn the crank too fast and cause a jam. However, this speedloader seems to have more tolerance for turning the crank very quickly than the Caldwell speedloader. So it’s less likely that you’ll cause a jam by moving too quickly.
And this Champion Target speedloader just seems less prone to jamming overall. That makes this speedloader faster, overall, than some of the competing speedloaders.
The only downside is that, if you DO get a jam, it’s trickier to clear it than with other speed loaders.
But, if you’re careful, jamming should occur fairly rarely. And you’ll be able to fill all your magazines super quickly and easily.
5. Butler Creek Hot Lips 10/22 Loader - Ruger 10/22 Speed Loader for Extended Magazines
The Butler Creek Hot Lips 10/22 Loader is designed to work with the most popular extended Ruger 10/22 magazines. And it’s a fast speed loader that makes quick work of stuffing those 25-round mags.
This is another crank-style speedloader. However, it’s slightly simpler than other crank speed loaders. Most speedloaders require a little shaking or settling to get the rounds aligned before they get to the chamber.
This model doesn’t require that step. You can just dump rounds into the hopper and crank.
Now, this Ruger 10/22 speed loader might work with standard rotary magazines. But the extended magazine doubles as a handle for this speedloader. You hold the magazine while you crank rounds in.
It’s not that this speedloader can’t work with standard 10-round magazines. It’s just that it’s very difficult to stabilize without an extended magazine.
But, this speedloader works great with the Butler Creek magazines (Hot Lips, Steel Lips). You could probably use Ruger extended magazines as well.
You can also use this speed loader with inline .22LR magazines.
Overall, this speedloader is reasonably versatile. But it’s certainly designed for Butler Creek magazines.
However, the big question is, “How does it work?”
Answer: pretty darn well. This speedloader jams quite rarely if you use Butler Creek magazines. I suspect that it would jam more if you’re using magazines from a different manufacturer. But, overall, the reliability is strong.
So, if you want a fast Ruger 10/22 speedloader for your extended magazines, this is probably the best Ruger 10/22 speed loader for the money.
Fill ‘em Up and Shoot
One thing about shooting a Ruger 10/22 is that it’s super easy to blast off a whole bunch of rounds. So it’s easy to find yourself filling magazines more than you shoot when you hit the range.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. If you get a Ruger 10/22 speed loader, you’ll spend a whole lot less time thumbing rounds at the range.
Still not sure which is the best Ruger 10/22 speed loader? Just get the Maglula LTD. Ruger 10/22 Magazine Speedloader and Unloader. It’s pretty much the best Ruger 10/22 speed loader on the market. It’s not the least expensive. But it’ll save you tons of time filling magazines.
Now that you know, it’s time to make the most of your range time. Get a Ruger 10/22 speed loader and beat up targets instead of beating your thumbs.
