Vortex Sparc 2 Review – Worth the investment?

A reflex sight gives you the benefit of both accuracy and rapid target acquisition which you cannot get from a closed sight or a scope, but your optic has to be robust enough to withstand any punishment that might be dished out on it without producing perfect results.

Let’s face it, most of us can’t spend a thousand dollars on an optic. It fits the demand for affordable, high-quality optics for rifles, carbines, and shotguns. Though it is priced for any budget, you get plenty of value in this optic.

In all honesty, you won’t find another optic in the same class with the Sparc 2 at the same price. It is durable, easy to use, and maintains its accuracy just like the higher priced units, but doesn’t include all of the bells and whistles which add to their price. It is light, it doesn’t add bulk to your weapon and is easy to install at various heights to suit your preference with its adjustable height installation feature.

Worth the Investment?

Vortex Sparc 2

PROS

  • You have to start out with its mid-range price while delivering higher end optic performance
  • Its lightweight and a design which doesn’t add a lot of bulkiness to your weapon
  • Parallax free is an essential element for any reflex sight and this one has it
  • check-circle-o
Choice of dot color and wide range of brightness adjustment

CONS

  • The on/off button is well suited for right-handed shooters, but is cumbersome for left-handed shooters and it must be pressed precisely in the middle to make it work
  • The front lens of the optic reflects a lot of light whenever it is at certain angles, which could work against you in situations where lens flare will spook game or give away your position

Compared to other sights in its class, the Sparc 2 is very much worth the investment. Take a look at a few of the characteristics which add value to this optic:

You will have no problem mounting this sight on rifles, carbines or shotguns.
It is especially suited for carbines but will withstand the higher strength recoil of a shotgun without damaging its accuracy, even when you are shooting magnum shells.

Being a primary unit without the bells and whistles makes it great for getting it set up, sighted in and ready to use in no time.
For the price you are paying, you are getting a pretty substantial quality optic.

You could pay a whole lot more for the same quality optic as this product, but why would you? To even come close to its optic quality, you would be looking at a Trijicon RX34-C-800112, which will cost you more than twice as much. Let’s see what makes it so unique.
